What is really important...

So, my son is leaving for college in three weeks. Gulp! All you mothers who have already gone through that, I know, just took a deep breath and sighed! Just thinking about it makes me tear up. I have such clear memories of that first kindergarten school bus ride; I didn’t think I’d make it through the day. I went to day care to watch him get on the bus, with my huge 1989 style video camera, and then drove to the school to watch him get off on the other end. How in the world does a little 5 year old kid know what to do when he gets there? It’s a scary world out there when your baby goes to kindergarten.

The world is still scary, when your huge almost 6 foot son, who is now a man, is going off to college. How will he know what to do, where to go? Funny, the questions are still the same for me! Oh, he gets so frustrated with me when I start asking “worrying mom” kind of questions.

I wonder how many of you are single moms out there. We try to be everything for our children and as single moms, we also have to work, take care of the house, make the meals, make dental and doctor appointments, buy clothes, etc. When do we find time for ourselves? I have felt many times like I’ve been inadequate in all the roles I’ve played. Just what is it our kids need the most from us? I don’t have any scientific proof, but my guess is respect and support. I think my children are happiest when I give them that. And the good news is that is something I CAN do. Sometimes though, I just forget.

When I complain about my kids, I often remember all those tear-jerking e-mails about what is really important in life. I am grateful that I have two healthy, beautiful, smart children. I am blessed and I know that. My job was to get them to be self-sufficient adults. Have I succeede
d? This month, think about what is important to you. Tell someone you love that you appreciate them. Send a thank you card to someone. Bring a surprise gift to someone just because. As I’m feeling my loss, I know I need to remember my blessings!

GRATITUDE is the monthly theme…In addition to expressing your appreciation to others; say a silent little thank you before you fall asleep. I bet you feel great in the morning! I want to thank everyone who attended the forgiveness workshop and book signing in Roseburg, Oregon a few weeks ago! The gains were tremendous! Everyone had fabulous breakthroughs! I am so thankful to be doing this work and to share this gift with others!

Standing Firm on Feminine Ground –
A Retreat for Women - overlooking the Pacific Ocean on the Bandon Oregon Coast. The retreat is 75% full, I only have room for 3 more people. What connotation do you get when you feel yourself standing firm? Stop reading for a second; close your eyes and breath into the concept. What do you feel? Imagine the smell of the ocean air, visualize a group of women loving, laughing and crying tears of joy together. Click here for a picture of a past retreat on the coast.

The picture that comes to mind for me is
Limitless Boundaries.  It’s not the restrictive kind of boundaries, but the expansive kind. The kind that leaves you feeling full but not stuffed, strong and able to leap tall buildings. Through this vision, it is my intention that you leave the retreat having created limitless boundaries for yourself. Step up and into your feminine power and space. Get your needs met on a regular, consistent basis. Live life from the heart, the heart of patience, love, playfulness and compassion. How does that sound? Click here to find out more details about the retreat. I would LOVE to have you join us in Standing Firm on Feminine Ground! If you have questions, write me at lori@attorney-coach.com.
